All this time I’ve been hearing about the disease in the palm trees in Greece. About the problems caused by the red palm weevil. It was time for it, to knock and on our door. The only palm tree we have on the property is in trouble by this insect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palm tree’s leaves are starting to droop downward (they look like an umbrella).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you get close to the palm tree, you can hear the palm tree “boiling”. It makes a noise like the boiling must. Immediately you know that this is not normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a desperate attempt, I sprayed the palm with Decis 25 EC<\/a>. The next day, I discovered an insect on the palm tree that was visibly paralyzed, but not dead. After a brief search, I realized I was looking at the famous red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus<\/em>) that eats palm trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
