The Duchess with the chickens
Deborah Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire
(1920 – 2014)

The next time someone tells you that it is humble to deal with the land, that it is not appropriate, tell them this story. A story of inspiration.

Deborah Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire in England, inherited a lot of debt and a large estate.

Rather than sell the estate to pay off the debts, and then live a life in the drawing rooms, she chose to put the estate to good use.

He chose mud and hard work.
Because he believed in the possibilities and it calmed her down.

She became involved in raising chickens and cattle.
He utilized every inch of the property and farmed.
He added value to the products he produced and through selling them, he was able to pay off debts and make the farm a profitable business.

She opened her estate. She shared it with the world.

Today, her example is an inspiration. Her name has become synonymous with the use of the land, peace, goodness.

Some know her as the“Duchess with chickens” and others by her real title, the“Duchess of Devonshire“.
